My Morning Walk Today!
My favourite place to go for walks is just around my neighbourhood. I enjoy stopping in the shops around my apartment, and going into the quieter residential areas.
This post is a great example of following the coherence principle of Mayer’s Principles. The video is short and straight to the point showing how I walk and around what areas I like to walk. There are no distracting elements of the video that could distract the viewers away from the message of the video. This video is also a great example of the principle of signaling. By titling the walk “My Morning Walk Today”, showing the viewers a message of what they are going to be watching.
#tdc1532 Create a 25 Seconds of Life Video

Evenings can be filled with life, make a 25 second video that shows life in action — created for the Vimeo Weekend Challenge
For this daily create I decided to take a video of a rainy day in the uvic bus loop. This activity displays many of Mayer’s Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning because it combines video with a clear and focused message. The video helps communicate the experience visually, and the short caption provides some added context. With the short video clip of about 30 seconds, the activity reduces cognitive load and helps viewers to focus on one main idea rather than becoming overwhelmed with the length of the clip and information it is displaying.
3. My Happy Place
Prompt:
Record a video of a place where you feel relaxed or happy. Add a short caption describing how it makes you feel.
The peak of Mount Tolmie is one of my favourite places because it is beautiful and relaxing.
This daily create demonstrates the coherence principle because it focuses on one main location and one main idea. Keeping the video as short as 9 seconds with a brief description removes any unecessary information, which helps viewers focus on the message of the video. There is no extra information distracting the viewer. This daily create is also a great demonstration of the personalization principle. My reflection is written from a personal perspective, which creates a learning experience that is more relatable to the viewers.
